2021 TRASCENT VIRTUAL CRE / FM AMERICAS CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS
The Trascent Americas CRE / FM Conference was a candid day of conversation focused on the future of our industry.
In the past 18 months, professionals worldwide have seen their workplace experience change dramatically and seemingly overnight. Even as the pandemic recedes, corporate real estate and facilities management professionals face enormous challenges. Our conversations over the course of three sessions gave insight into how some of the most innovative teams are handling this rapidly changing environment.
Session One: Workplace Experience Through Service Excellence
Microsoft’s Rhonda Cone, Global Workplace Services – Facility Services Platform Lead, kicked our day off with an overview on the ways that Microsoft is evolving its approach to workplace experience.
The global software giant is shifting its emphasis from a more traditional facilities management approach toward a workplace experience model. The new platform is focused on hospitality and end-to-end service delivery that empowers Microsoft employees to do their best work.
“The mission of Microsoft is empowering others,” Rhonda said. “Inside of our offices, it’s facilities services that empower Microsoft.” For Rhonda, “workplace experience” means giving employees what they need when they need it.
Rhonda and her team are focusing their efforts on delivering an excellent workplace experience by creating a more effective working environment and striving for continuous improvement.
Session Two: Creating a More Diverse, Equitable and Inclusive Society thru Supplier Partnerships
Our second session featured a powerful presentation by Genentech’s Victoria Yaeger, Vice President and Head of Global Procurement Customer Excellence.
Victoria shared how we can have an impact on society by the way we source services and the partners we collaborate with. Victoria has seen from personal experience at Genentech how supplier relationships can influence corporate behavior and create a more diverse, equitable and inclusive society.
Put simply, the spending power of large businesses creates an opportunity to shape society.
Diversity isn’t simply a slogan, it is key to thriving in the business environment of the coming decades. An increasingly diverse global population means having corporate competency in diversity and inclusion.
Session Three: FM Contract and Pricing Issues & Solutions – 2021 Insights
Our final session of the day focused on the evolution of commercial contracting models. DLA Piper Partner, Vinny Sanchez offered insights from what he has been seeing in the industry, particularly in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The pandemic has upended the workplace environment,” Vinny said. And most companies are in the process of re-evaluating both their short- and long-term strategy around workplace facilities.
This sudden shift is impacting real estate portfolios and portfolio management. It’s also shining a light on pre-existing challenges.
In the midst of all the disruption COVID caused across the industry, Vinny shared that there has also been a move toward collaboration between clients and suppliers as the real human impact of the pandemic has been felt across the board.
We are so pleased that our Americas conference offered valuable insights on some of the most pressing topics in our industry. Now, we’re looking forward to our upcoming 2021 Europe conference, coming up on December 2nd.
We hope you can join us for this exciting day of learning. Register now to reserve your virtual seat.
